Compliance (as at 31 December 2002) with objectives set to support the elimination of mixed sex accommodation in general wards.

Rationale
This relates to the Government’s manifesto commitment to eliminate mixed sex accommodation in 95% of NHS trusts by December 2002. It also relates to the elimination of Nightingale wards for older people. Three specific objectives were set in 1997 to support the elimination of mixed sex accommodation, in the context of providing greater privacy and dignity for patients.
