Summary measure of Hospital Episode Statistics (HES) data quality for NHS trusts with in-patient activity.

Rationale
This indicator, which is currently based on Hospital Episode Statistics (HES) data, provides a measure of the quality and reliability of the data underlying many of the Performance Indicators and serves as a proxy for assessing the general quality of data for each organisation. The Data Quality Indicator is being further developed to measure the accuracy of clinical coding from Trusts. This indicator should be used in tandem with data accreditation scores.

Above average	4	greater than or equal to 0.96 and less than 0.98
Significantly above average	5	greater than or equal to 0.98
